The small town of Plédéliac is part of the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany. The town enjoys a beautiful setting on the edge of a forest and close to a water sports lake. And although Plédéliac lies inland, it is close enough to the coast for ease of access for seaside days out.
For a town of its size, Plédéliac is very well equipped with the shops and services you'll need for everyday life. For those times when you want greater facilities, including a good choice of restaurants and supermarkets, there are the nearby towns of Plénée Jugon, Dinan, Lamballe and Plancoet. Plédéliac offers a lively community spirit too, and has a good number of sports clubs, festivals and activities for all ages.
The town is deeply historic, and has several places of interest to discover. Four of these, the Chateau Hunaudaye, the Guillier Castle, the Church of Plédéliac and the covered walkway and menhirs of Saint André, are all listed historic monuments. Further places of interest in the town are the remains of a 12th century abbey, a chapel, a manor house and the super living museum "Le Ferme d'Antan".
Plédéliac really is a great base for holidays, or for any active family as there's so much to do in the locality. Nearby Jugon les Lacs is a great little market town with superb leisure facilities on and around its lakes. Here you can enjoy water sports, swimming and sunbathing. The forests that surround the town of Plédéliac also offer idyllic walking and nature trails. And, the area boasts a number of excellent golf courses, so even the keenest golfers won't be bored.
In the commune itself you can visit the Chateau Hunaudaye, and if you've got kids, make time to take them to the lovely "Ferme d'Antan" where farming history comes vividly alive. Then you can find most of the main attractions of the area within a half an hour's drive of Plédéliac. Don't miss spending a day wandering the quaint streets and fortifications of mediaeval Dinan. Dinan's packed with sights and also with shops and restaurants, so there's something there for everyone. Then there's the National Stud at Lamballe, which is an absolute must for horse lovers. It doesn't take much more than half an hour to get to the seaside either!
You can travel by air to Dinard, which is the nearest airport to Plédéliac and is served by budget airline Ryanair and Aurigny. Rennes is the next nearest airport, which is served by Flybe. Or, if you prefer the ferry, the best port to head for is St Malo, although you could also choose Roscoff, Caen or Cherbourg if you don't mind a longer drive. You'll need a car to make the most of the area, so if you're driving to Plédéliac you'll find it on the D52/D55. The nearest major roads are the N12 and N176.
