Plélan le Petit is a really pretty village that sits in a delightful part of Brittany. Just ten minutes away from Dinan, everybody's favourite mediaeval town on the River Rance, and under half an hour's drive from the glorious beaches and fun seaside resorts of the Breton coast, Plélan le Petit is an idyllic location for holidays, weekend breaks or even a new life in France.
Plélan le Petit is a village with a thriving community life and great local amenities. The village boats a bank, a petrol station, a post office, a boulangerie and a supermarket in addition to a selection of bars and restaurants. There is also an excellent equestrian centre, so any horse mad members of the family will be more than happily occupied enjoying the idyllic rising country around the area.
Although the village supplies everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable everyday life, you will almost certainly want to get out and about to discover more of this wonderful part of France. On the doorstep is Dinan, one of Brittany's favourite destinations. Dinan is a gorgeous mediaeval town and river port on the River Rance, which also hosts a fabulous market on Thursday mornings. It is packed with shops, restaurants, cafés and bars as well as museums and other cultural venues. Just a little more driving brings you to the ferry port of St Malo, and to all the lovely and lively resorts and beaches of the Côtes-d'Armor.
Brittany is renowned, if not for its hot weather, for its beautiful, unspoiled countryside, and the area close to Plélan le Petit is perfect for enjoying the great outdoors. (The climate is a little similar to that of southern England, although there is often a little more sunshine and milder temperatures especially in winter.) It is a very "horsy" area, as the equestrian centre in the village proves, but it is also great for walkers, cyclists, fishermen and nature lovers. Golf is available not far from the village, as is tennis and many other popular sports.
Dinard has an airport which is served by Ryanair and Aurigny, which provides a point of arrival not far from Plélan. The ferry port of St Malo is very close by, so travelling by ferry is also an excellent choice. If driving, and a car is indeed a useful thing in rural Brittany, the village can be found on the D19 very close to the N176.
Brittany is a popular location for property seekers from the UK and elsewhere, but prices are still reasonable and it is possible to pick up some amazing bargains.
