Ploubalay - a peaceful market town

Ploubalay is a lovely and peaceful market town that is found just minutes from the lovely beaches of the Côtes d'Armor in Brittany in north-west France. If you are looking either to spend a holiday (or even to purchase property) in a location that is easy to reach from the UK and which is bang in the middle of the very best bits of Brittany, look no further than Ploubalay.

Ploubalay has everything you could want from a small town, with all the amenities and services necessary for everyday life. Local shops sit alongside well stocked supermarkets, and all the essentials of French life are present and correct. There are boulangeries, a traditional market, a fresh fish shop (fish and seafood being a very special concern in Ploubalay, so near to the rich fishing grounds of the Côtes d'Armor coast!) and bars and restaurants where you can settle down to enjoy a slice of Breton life.

Don't miss the pony and donkey festival!

Ploubalay has a peaceful atmosphere, and although tourism is a factor in the town's economy, it never seems to be over run by tourists, keeping its authentic atmosphere and offering a famously friendly welcome. The delightful pony and donkey festival, held yearly in Ploubalay, is a fantastic event which families will love... especially those with horse-mad children!

This gorgeous mediaeval town will treat you to a glimpse of what France was like in the Middle Ages, with its charming period houses, old fortifications and winding, narrow streets.

Visit lively Lancieux

Of course proximity to the seaside is important, and although it is true to say that nowhere in Brittany is far from the sea, it is a real bonus to find yourself staying or living just minutes from the lovely beaches and lively resorts of the Emerald Coast. Lancieux, one such resort, is a very near neighbour, and is the ideal destination on a sunny, summer's day!
