For buying and selling property in Plouguernével
Plouguernével is a small town that is found in the north-west of France, in the Breton department of Côtes d'Armor. The location is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy everything that this beautiful department has to offer. Plouguernével has a tranquil, sleepy air, yet it is close to the large town of Rostrenen, only a short drove from the ferry ports and within easy access of the beaches. The countryside surrounding the town is lovely, offering rolling hills, tranquil canals and some glorious lakes.
Plouguernével offers basic shops and services, having a pharmacy, a "corner shop", a couple of boulangeries (which offer the essential baguettes and croissants among other delights), a bar and a friendly "no frills" restaurant, where simple and nutritious food is served at bargain prices.
Of course, there are times that you will need access to supermarkets and the bright lights of a large town, so it is fortunate that Rostrenen is on the doorstep at a mere ten minutes up the road. Here you will find all of this and more, with the added bonus that you can return to the peace and tranquillity of Plouguernével when you are "all shopped out"!
The surrounding area offers lots of interesting possibilities, both for further exploration of Brittany and also for taking part in an almost bewildering variety of sports. Rostrenen has a great market every Tuesday morning, and there can be few better ways to spend a sunny morning than browsing the stalls of a French market, taking in the sights, sounds and scents as you go. Visit the charming mediaeval town of Dinan, or take a leisurely bicycle ride along the delightfully flat tow-paths of the Nantes Brest canal. The area has some excellent golf courses, and there are also several very popular horse-riding centres near Plouguernével. Then, of course, there are the beaches, the lively port towns and the mystical menhirs (standing stones) and other prehistoric sites.
If you like to fly, it is simple to take a flight directly from the UK to Dinard or Brest. Dinard is served by Ryanair and Aurigny, while Brest is served by flybe and Ryanair. Travelling by rail will take you to St Brieuc, which is close to your destination. The nearest ferry ports are St Malo and Roscoff, and if driving, the N164 will take you right to Plouguernével.
Plouguernével has some real property bargains on the market at the time of writing. Despite the reputation of the Côtes d'Armor as a fairly expensive department, it is still possible to buy a very good property close to Plouguernével for under 200,000 Euros. There is plenty of variety of property styles too, with bungalows, town houses and small farmsteads available.
