Plumaudan - a picturesque Breton village

Plumaudan is a pretty and tranquil Breton village which glories in its green and unspoilt surroundings, yet sits close to all the major attractions of this sought after region of France. Not far from the River Rance, which runs to St Malo on the northern coast of Brittany, Plumaudan is typically Breton, with attractive, granite cottages, little, quiet streets and handful of local shops.

Rural but with useful amenities

The village is traditional and rural, a perfect escape from the hassle and noise of modern live in British towns and cities. Anyone who loves to lose themselves in the glorious green and wooded landscapes of inland Brittany will find themselves drawn to this place, a haven for safe, family holidays or simply a peaceful new life. That said, it is no isolated backwater. There are several useful amenities in the village, including a mini mart shop, the essential boulangerie for fresh bread and croissants, a pharmacy and even a friendly little bar. All around the village you can find lovely walking trails and discover the countryside the old fashioned way.

Visit mediaeval Dinan and the port town of St Malo

Peaceful as the village is, there is no shortage of places to go and things to do within a very short drive. An absolute must see is the mediaeval, fortified town of Dinan, also a bustling river port packed with shops, restaurants, cultural venues and restaurants. St Malo too, with its historic quarter, beautiful beaches and all the fun of a traditional seaside holiday in addition to the convenience of the ferry port, is nearby and makes a great day out for all the family.

Take the kids to the Cobac Adventure Park

If you have kids, there are plenty of attractions for them locally too, a very important consideration as every parent knows! Try visiting the Bourbansais Château and Zoo, the Cobac Adventure Park, the super leisure lake of Betineuc and the car museum of Loheac. Golf fans will enjoy the accessibility of no less than three nearby great courses, while others can look forward to horse-riding, cycling, tennis and many more activities.

How to get there

If you want to travel by air, Dinard is the nearest airport and has direct flights to and from the UK with budget airline Ryanair and Aurigny. Rennes is also an option, being served by Flybe. If you prefer to take the ferry, you will find St Malo the best port to head for, and this is served by the excellent Brittany Ferries. Those driving can find the village on the D64/D90, between the N176 and the N12.
