For buying and selling property in Saint Quay Portrieux
St Quay Portrieux is a fishing port town in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany, in north-west France. The town is not only a bustling fishing port, but also has a busy modern marina, where pleasure craft and racing yachts moor up and add to the bright and breezy atmosphere. Holiday makers love St Quay Portrieux, and it is hardly surprising. All the character of the Breton coast is here, along with every amenity and leisure facility you could hope for, to enjoy the very best of north-west France.
Popular though it is with tourists, make no mistake there is a genuine fishing tradition in this town. There are around sixty boats in the regular fishing fleet, with a further ten offshore. Then, in the scallop season from November to April every year, even more boats arrive, swelling the fleet to around a hundred boats all told! The scallop season is famous here, and brings its own out of season business to the town, so you can rest assured that this is not one of those French seaside towns that dies in the winter and becomes a ghost town.
There is a great mix of heritage and modern life in St Quay Portrieux, and you can benefit from both equally. There are historical monuments and museums to help you rediscover the past, and there are no end of leisure facilities to help you enjoy today! Not only are there fabulous beaches, where sports such as beach volleyball are regularly played, but also fishing, sea diving, sailing schools, horse-riding, mini golf and tennis courts... and for after dark there is a casino, a cinema, nightclubs and a good choice of bars and restaurants, including creperies for those times you want to keep it light.
Situated as it is on the lovely northern coast of Brittany, St Quay Portrieux is ideally placed to be a base for further exploration of this wonderful part of France. Enjoy the beaches, the character towns and villages (don't miss making a visit to the gorgeous mediaeval town of Dinan), and the beautiful countryside with its festivals, forests and folklore.
There is an airport at Dinard, and you can fly there direct with Ryanair or Aurigny Air. Those who like to travel by boat (and don't forget, if you do this you will have your car for exploring more of Brittany) can take the ferry to St Malo.
Brittany prices (and specifically, Côtes-d'Armor prices) are usually quite high, as the area is extremely desirable as well as convenient for British buyers. In a town such as this, popular with tourists, you could always consider renting out your property for part of the year.
