For buying and selling property in St Vran
The little village of Saint Vran is set amidst the rolling, green countryside of the inland Côtes-d'Armor. Although Saint Vran is tiny, it is close to many of the region's main attractions and just 27 miles from the beautiful beach resort of Pléneuf Val André. This enviable location makes it ideal for holidays or short breaks.
In spite of its diminutive size, Saint Vran offers a good boulangerie for freshly baked bread and pastries, plus a bar and a restaurant. Of course, you will need access to greater amenities too, but this isn't a problem as there are several towns nearby which offer lots of shops, supermarkets and leisure facilities. Merdrignac is a charming market town which offers all this as well as its traditional street market. And, it's just four miles from Saint Vran.
Brittany as a whole is a wonderful place for anyone who enjoys getting out in the fresh air and taking part in sporting activities. There are several good golf courses within reach of Saint Vran, including an excellent one at Pléneuf Val André. The seaside offers many more activities and distractions, of course, with lovely beaches, resorts and coastal walks. If you've got kids in tow, Merdrignac has a great public swimming pool complete with water slides.
The great thing about being located in central Brittany is that everywhere is within reach. Spend your days exploring market towns like Merdrignac and Broons, take a day trip to the mediaeval town of Dinan, or spend long, carefree days at the coast. The bustling port town of Saint Malo is always fascinating, with its historic quarter, excellent beaches and extensive shopping.
Brittany is known as a land of mysteries, so if this intrigues you there are numerous places to visit where you can learn the old myths and legends that abound. Take, for example, the chapel at the top of Menez Bre, where a blind man regained his site, according to local beliefs. Fetes and festivals, like those held in the "Lawyer's Town" of Tréguier, take place all over the region and give other insights into Brittany's past and traditions.
If you want to arrive by air, head for the little airport at Dinard which is served by budget airline Ryanair. Rennes, in the nearby department of Ille-et-Vilaine is also a good option. The closest ferry port is at St Malo, but Roscoff is within reach. The village lies on the D6/D76 roads. The nearest major road is the N164.
If you want to find bargain property in the Côtes-d'Armor, the cheapest places to look are small towns and villages a little distance from the coast. Saint Vran is one such village, currently (September 2012) offering a range of properties, with prices starting at just 86,800 Euros.
