For buying and selling property in Baud
Baud is a lively mid-sized market town which is found in the Morbihan department of Brittany, in the north-west of France. The Morbihan countryside is unspoilt and picturesque, with rivers, lakes, rolling hills and forests offering a peaceful and relaxing lifestyle. The town is set inland, yet within easy reach of the beaches and the Quiberon Peninsula, and close to many other attractions of this popular region. It is easily accessed from the UK. The town has experienced a considerable surge in popularity lately, with a burgeoning population leading to construction growth around the town.
Baud is a vibrant little town, and serves as the administrative centre for many smaller towns and villages in the locality. Shopping is never a problem, as in Baud you can find supermarkets, many smaller shops such as boulangeries and boucheries, all the usual services such as banks and health care, schools and more. There is a traditional French market held every Saturday, so the freshest and best of local produce is yours for the taking, as long as you are prepared to get out of bed in time to catch the best bargains.
Dining out is another pleasure in Baud, and you can choose from a surprisingly good selection of restaurants. Other entertainment possibilities include a nightclub, a cinema, cafés and bars. Baud also enjoys a party or two, and if you are able, be in town to catch the various festivals (beer, crafts, auto and music fêtes to name just a few!) that bring fun and colour to the town each year.
There is never a lack of things to do or places to go in and around Baud. Situated in beautiful countryside, with the rivers and lakes providing opportunities for fishing, swimming, boating and more, Baud is also just 30 minutes from the lovely Morbihan coast. And although Baud is a well equipped town, you may enjoy a day or two visiting nearby larger towns such as Lorient, Quiberon and Vannes, which is the colourful and fascinating departmental capital. For a spot of romance, try taking a boat trip to the aptly named Belle Isle, which lies just off the mainland coast.
There are several airports that offer direct flights from the UK to the region, including Rennes, Dinard and Brest. Rennes is served by Flybe, Dinard by Aurigny and Ryanair, and Brest by Flybe and Ryanair. Nantes, in the neighbouring region of the Pays de la Loire is another within reasonable reach, which is served by Air France, Ryanair and easyJet. The ferry ports of St Malo and Roscoff are the nearest, but any of the northern ferry ports offer reasonable driving distances to Baud. Drivers can find Baud quite easily from the N24, from either the D724 or the D768.
Property prices in Brittany vary considerably from place to place, and from department to department. Morbihan, where Baud is situated, can be one of the more expensive locations, possibly due to the fact that the weather tends to be warmer and sunnier in the south of the region, but there is still a good deal of reasonably priced property to be found. Inland towns such as Baud are often a good bet for cheaper property, yet access to the coast is still easy.
