For buying and selling property in Mohon
Mohon is a small village in Morbihan, Brittany's most southerly department. An inland village, Mohon is nevertheless near enough to the coast to offer the possibility of days at the seaside. And, its setting, in picturesque countryside and just ten minutes from the lovely market town of Josselin, makes it a great base for enjoying the best of the area.
Mohon is pretty small, and certainly doesn't offer supermarkets or much in the way of nightlife! However, it has got some basic shops and services, so you will be able to pop down to the boulangerie to pick up delicious fresh baked bread and croissants each morning. Just ten minutes down the road is the mediaeval town of Josselin with good shops, bars, restaurants and a weekly market. If you're thinking of moving to live full-time in Mohon, rather than just spending holidays there, you'll find a pleasant, helpful community. And if you've got kids, there's a village school for the younger ones.
Brittany is always a great place to be if you enjoy getting out and active. Josselin, with its canal, offers the option of boat trips, which is a very enjoyable way to see the countryside and villages as you drift languidly by. Just a little further away, you can find the town of Ploermel, which has a golf course and a super leisure lake. The lake has facilities for windsurfing, water skiing, fishing, boating, swimming and beaches for sunbathing and family picnics. You'll also find the gently rolling and peaceful countryside good for walking, cycling and horse-riding.
Even though Mohon is set in central southern Brittany, and therefore not on the coast, you can still get to the seaside if you want to. That's the great thing about Brittany, nowhere is too far way from the sea! And Mohon's location means that you can try out the southern beaches of Morbihan, or head north to the Emerald Coast and the Pink Granite Coast. Nothing like a bit of variety! Nearby places worth getting to know include Josselin, of course, which has a chateau as well as a lovely mediaeval ambience, and the departmental capital of Vannes. Lorient is also interesting, especially if you like music, as it hosts a fabulous festival. And Quiberon is a lovely place to visit, set as it is on the peninsula.
Airports within reach include Dinard, Rennes, Brest and Nantes. The best ferry ports for reaching the area are St Malo, Roscoff, Caen and Cherbourg. Drivers will find Mohon on the D793/D155 roads. The nearest major roads are the N24 and N164.
With reasonable prices and some attractive properties currently available in and near to Mohon, it's well worth considering if you're looking for a property in Morbihan.
