Bize Minervois - a desirable location for property seekers

Bize Minervois is one of the Languedoc's prettiest villages, and high on the list of desirable locations for property seekers. Lying on the River Cesse, the village has a natural river pool which not only adds to its beauty but also provides a delightful place to swim and cool off on long, hot summer days. The village is well supplied with local shops and services, and is within easy reach of Carcassonne and all the attractions of this beautiful and historically fascinating area. The surroundings are redolent of the Mediterranean, with extensive vineyards and olive groves.

Authentic and charming

Bize Minervois is an ancient village, and retains its authenticity and original features despite its popularity with second home owners and holidaymakers. Sights include the 18th century Church of Saint Michel, the old gate to the village and some Palaeolithic caves. The old streets and houses are charming and typical of the area, and the surroundings are exquisite.

Well equipped providing most services

The village has a good range of local shops, with a boulangerie, a boucherie, a pharmacy, general stores, a couple of hairdressers, a beautician, a post office, a tabac/presse and a wine cave. On Wednesday mornings a small market sets up selling local goods and produce. In addition, there is a cinema, a café bar and three restaurants to enjoy. The Olive Festival in July is definitely worth catching!

Soak up the sun on the river pool's pebble beach

One of the best features of the village is the natural river pool on the edge of the village. In peak season, there is even a lifeguard on hand to make sure that everyone is able to enjoy the swimming in safety, and the pebble beach makes a delightful spot for relaxing and soaking up the sun.

Visit vineyards and olive groves

The vineyards and olive groves offer the opportunity to visit and taste and purchase the products, and also make a lovely backdrop to the village. The co operative olive mill of l'Oublio is just two kilometres from Bize, and produces olives and oils that are very highly acclaimed. Walking is a favourite way to take in the views and pick up the very southern ambience of the area around Bize Minervois.

Enjoy the history of the area as well as adventure sports

History buffs and heritage fans will love visiting the various Cathar sites of the region, including the city of Béziers and the fairytale Carcassonne, and also the mysterious Rennes le Château.
