Lussan is a gorgeous mediaeval village found in the sun-baked countryside of the Gard, in the eastern part of Languedoc-Roussillon. The walled village, which sits on top of a hill, in time-honoured fashion, looks out over a Mediterranean landscape of scented garrigue, sunflower fields and rocky gorges. Owning a property in Lussan gives you access to one of the south of France's most beautiful and historic areas. The Roman city of Nîmes, the wildlife rich wetlands of the Camargue, and jaw dropping gorges are just a few of the attractions of this wonderful area.
Lussan is very clearly a product of the Mediaeval Age. It is surrounded by defensive walls which paired with its lofty hilltop location to help repel invaders. Nearby you can find a menhir and fossils are often uncovered. In the village itself, the old castle is now an atmospheric home to the Mairie.
With a population of less than 500 souls, you wouldn't expect Lussan to be a hive of commerce or industry. But, the village does have a convenient small general store and a couple of restaurants. There will be days when you need access to more, however. So, it's good to know that the large town of Bagnols sur Ceze is not far, and offers over 300 shops and excellent amenities of all kinds.
The dramatic countryside of rocky gorges, hills and rivers is a paradise for lovers of outdoor adventure sports. Canyoning along river beds, rock climbing, kayaking and canoeing are all popular, as is white water rafting. If, however, your tastes run to gentler activities, don't worry. It is wonderful walking country.
There are simply not enough days in the year for you to become bored around this area. There's so much to discover. Visit Uzes, a glorious mediaeval town with loads of character, or Nîmes, famed for its Roman monuments. Marvel at the superb feat of engineering that is the Pont du Gard, or take a stroll around the fascinating Prafrance Bamboo Gardens. Discover Anduze, acclaimed for its pottery, and take the time to see Avignon with its celebrated bridge! Of course, the ideas above are really just a taster for this amazing region. You'll find your own favourites as you go along.

Lussan is not a cheap area. It sits right on the edge of Provence and is highly sought after.
