Pomérols - a typical wine village of the Languedoc

There are few villages to so embody the spirit of the Hérault quite as well as Pomérols. With its architecture and atmosphere, the village is the epitome of a southern, Languedocian wine village. Its heritage is well preserved and its surroundings idyllic. Pomérols enjoys a near perfect location. It's just minutes from the sea and the gorgeous Étang de Thau, and set amidst vineyards. It is also within easy reach of resorts like Cap d'Agde, and ancient cities like Montpellier and Carcassonne. It has excellent transport links with the UK too.

The village has nursery schools and a primary school, so if you are moving to Pomérols with young children they can be educated in the village itself in the early years.

Heritage to discover

Pomérols has managed to reserve its heritage well, and this gives it an authentic and intriguing air. An old, fortified village, the streets are narrow and winding, the stone of the houses baked by centuries of hot summer sun and salted by sea air. Many buildings have facades from the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. The Church of Saint Cyr and Sainte Juliette is worth taking time to see. It's a classified historical monument and has a lovely Baroque altarpiece. Also good to visit is the co operative winery, and the chocolatier who is a master of his trade!
