With its origins rooted in Roman times, the lovely village of Sauvian offers a delightful blend of historic interest and charm along with modern day comfort and ease of living. Picturesque and set amid lovely countryside, close to the Mediterranean coast and the Canal du Midi, Sauvian is a lively village with excellent amenities and access to many of the region's most popular attractions.

Facilities on offer

Although Sauvian is classed as a village, rather than a town, it is a large village and is well equipped with shops and other amenities. Most things you will need for everyday living can be found within the village, including local shops and services, a supermarket, cafés, bars and restaurants, wine caves and even a bowling alley for entertainment!

Lively and friendly, with historic features

There is a lively, friendly atmosphere, and a good mix of French and other nationalities with a number of British property owners settled here. Larger towns with even more facilities can easily be accessed within a few miles of Sauvian. Sauvian also presents some interesting historic features, with a castle, clock tower, fountain and Roman remains.

The village has a perfect location, within some 10 minutes of the coast, and also close to the Canal du Midi. Culture buffs will discover a great choice of museums, art galleries and festivals to enjoy within easy reach of Sauvian, while those who enjoy history and heritage can visit great cities such as Béziers, Carcassonne and Montpellier.

How to get there

The nearest airport is that of Béziers, which is practically on the door-step. Montpellier, Toulouse, Carcassonne and Perpignan airports are also not too far away. Ryanair, easyJet, Bmi Baby and Flybe are the airlines which currently serve one or other of these airports. Meanwhile rail travel is possible too, as you can take the Eurostar from England to Paris, then change to a TGV and travel swiftly to Montpellier or Toulouse. There is also a railway station at Béziers, if you want to travel onwards by train. If travelling by car, you will find Sauvian located on the D19. The nearest major road is the A9 auto route.

Property prices and availability in and around Sauvian

The Hérault is very popular with property seekers, both home grown and from abroad, so prices have risen in recent years. However, property here is still considerably cheaper than that found in nearby Provence, and there is a good variety of property on the market, offering a chance to find something to suit most budgets.
