The small town of Cussac, which lies in the Haute-Vienne department of rural Limousin, is a pretty and traditional town which offers a good range of local shops and amenities. Its setting, in the lush, Limousin countryside of lakes, rivers and woodlands, makes it an ideal spot for those wishing to live a country lifestyle, yet remain close to larger towns with access to all the attractions of the area.
Cussac has excellent amenities, with shops including a supermarket and a range of small shops, restaurants, schools and service industries. Crossed by the River Tardoire, Cussac is ideally located in the heart of the Limousin countryside, and offers numerous leisure activities, most based around spending time in the fresh air and unspoilt environment that surrounds this town. Interesting features found locally include the old chestnut drying houses, or "clediers", two of which are in Cussac, and a chateau nearby.
The Haute-Vienne is a department rich in natural splendour, and one which is always popular with overseas property seekers who want to enjoy the slower pace of life and outdoor life which is such a feature of the Limousin. Travel by air to Limoges (served by Ryanair and Flybe), or take the TGV to that city or to nearby Angoulême. Drivers can find Cussac near the N21, on the D699.
The Haute-Vienne tends to be a little more expensive in general than the rest of the Limousin region, due to its proximity to the capital and also to the Dordogne. Having said that, property around Cussac is very reasonably priced, and there are opportunities to find some real bargains.

Access: By air: Fly to Limoges. By rail: The TGV runs into Limoges and also to Angoulême, so train travel is another option. By road: The town lies on the D699, near the N21.
Economy: The economy is agricultural, with chestnut growing important. Small commerce is present.
Interesting fact: In and around Cussac you can find the old chestnut drying houses, known as "clediers".
