All shops and services are easily accessed nearby, with the town of Magnac Laval just a few kilometres away. The area around the village is also home to a number of good bars and restaurants, as well as some of the Limousin's famous leisure lakes where you can swim, sunbathe, fish, sail or walk in the unspoilt environment.

The Haute-Vienne is a great department, as its position in the south of the Limousin allows you to explore eastern Poitou-Charentes as well as the northern Dordogne without travelling very far. Within the Limousin itself, must visit places include the principle city of Limoges, famed for its porcelain as well as its heritage, the tragic war atrocity town of Oradour sur Glanes, and a whole host of picturesque market towns and tiny villages.

How to get there

The cities of Limoges and Poitiers both offer good arrival points from the UK whether travelling by plane or by train. Limoges Airport, which is the closest, is served by Ryanair and Flybe, while Poitiers Airport is served by Ryanair. Drivers will find Dompierre les Eglises not far from the main A20 and N145 roads, on the D61/D45.
