For buying and selling property in Magnac Laval
Magnac Laval is a small but lively market town that is found in the pretty Haute-Vienne countryside in the Limousin region. There is a character-filled old quarter, with ancient houses and winding streets, and a delightful riverside, lined with attractive old buildings. The two parts of the town are linked by old stone bridges spanning the River Brame.
Magnac Laval has all the charm of rural France, whilst also managing to provide everything you need for a comfortable modern existence. All the services you are likely to need are here. These include a supermarket, bars, restaurants, hairdressers, banks, pharmacies, bakeries and a post office. The town hosts a weekly traditional market on Thursday mornings if you prefer to do your shopping in true French style. Magnac Laval may have modern facilities, but it is a traditional town in appearance, and one of its loveliest buildings is the impressive Church of St Eglise.
The Haute-Vienne is a wonderful area for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature and the many activities that are on offer in the countryside. Go fishing in the river (permits required but easy to obtain), walking in the woods and lanes, horse-riding and cycling on the tracks and randonnées or swim and relax in and beside the lovely lakes that are found in the locality, the nearest one being only one kilometre away.
The magnificent leisure lake of Saint Pardoux is just a few minutes drive from Magnac Laval, and offers a wide variety of activities and sports, with water skiing and wind surfing being just two. The town of Limoges, famed for its beautiful porcelain, definitely deserves a visit, and there is a multitude of interesting and historic towns and villages to discover in the region too. Of these, and lying close to Magnac Laval, Bellac, Le Dorat and Mortemart are all worth seeing, packed with character and charm.
The town lies within an hour of both Limoges and Poitiers, so it is easy to get there by air or by rail with budget airlines or the fast and efficient TGV. Drivers will find the town near the N147 and N145 and within easy access from the A20 auto route.
The good news is that Magnac Laval offers a real chance to purchase property without paying the silly prices that have crept into some areas of France. This is an unspoilt region in terms of the property market as well as the towns and countryside, so make the most of it while it lasts.
