For buying and selling property in Séreilhac
The village of Séreilhac, which lies in the lovely rural surroundings so typical of the Limousin region, in the department of the Haute-Vienne, is an attractive village which offers a good range of local amenities. Close to the tranquil waters of the Vienne River, where fishing and water sports are possible, Séreilhac is also conveniently near to the delightful regional capital city of Limoges.
While many small villages in south-west France cannot offer so much as a village shop, Séreilhac has a great little range of shops and services to make life comfortable for residents. You can find butchers and bakers in town, a furniture shop, a china shop and even a hunting shop! Services include a school, doctors and other health facilities, metalworkers, builders, carpenters and even beekeepers, the last selling a delicious range of associated products as well as honey straight from the hive.
The community is small but thriving, and lays on a great programme of events to enjoy throughout the year. Try attending a Fondue Evening, a Theatrical Evening, a Bingo Night or, perhaps best of all, the Festival of the Donkey. There are also a number of sporting and cultural associations in the village catering for the needs of both adults and children.
The Haute-Vienne is a department for countryside lovers, and for those who enjoy getting active out in the fresh air. Near Séreilhac there is an Equestrian Centre for keen horse riders, and the country lanes, fields and tracks are also perfect for walking or cycling. The waters of the beautiful River Vienne are close to the village, and offer chances to take up your fishing rod (ask at the Mairie for permit information) or to try various other water sports.
The city of Limoges begs to be visited, and even once you have seen the sights and soaked up the history you can continue to enjoy the great shopping and dining on offer there, and start to build up your Limoges porcelain collection! A little further afield, but still easily reached for days out is the fabulous Dordogne, with pre-historic caves, stunning rivers and landscapes and pretty bastide towns.
Travel by air to Limoges (served by Ryanair and Flybe), or take the TGV to that city or to nearby Angoulême. Drivers can find Séreilhac along the main N21 road.
The Haute-Vienne tends to be a little more expensive in general than the rest of the Limousin region, due to its proximity to the capital and also to the Dordogne. The village of Séreilhac and the surrounding area however, offer a variety of properties with something to suit most needs and budgets.
