Naucelle is a pretty and vibrant small town that's set in the west of the Aveyron department of central-south France. The town has a traditional atmosphere and a visible heritage, yet also offers modern amenities that make it an idyllic holiday location. Plus, its close to a host of interesting places to visit.

Small town, big heart

With just under 2,000 inhabitants, Naucelle is really only a small town. But it's clearly got a big heart! Here you'll find all the usual local shops that make a French country town so... well... French. Boulangeries, boucheries and all the usual suspects. There's also a handy Intermarché supermarket if you prefer to get everything in one shopping trip, with restaurants and cafés also found in town for those times you want to eat out.

Enjoy Naucelle's fabulous lido and its markets, fairs and celebrations

Naucelle excels in its leisure facilities too. There's a fabulous, big open air lido (with five pools!) in town. What could be better on long, hot summer days? The town loves to party too. Look out for the Bastille Day celebrations, complete with a spectacular fireworks display, summer night markets, a chestnut fair in October and many more colourful events that give a real flavour of rural France.

Heritage of Naucelle

Naucelle is historic, and that much is evident at first glance. The narrow streets and pretty, traditional houses form a delightful backdrop to life here. Buildings of note include the striking Church of Saint Martin, and the imposing gates to the old fortified town. The natural heritage is stunning too. Since 2008, Naucelle has laid claim to the title "Ville et Villages Fleuries", so look out for wonderful floral displays throughout the summer months.

Sporting and leisure activities on offer

The wild countryside of the Aveyron lends itself to all manner of outdoor activities. Depending on how adventurous you want to be, you can try your hand at rock climbing, white water rafting, kayaking, fishing, pony trekking, cycling or walking. Golfers can find good courses within an easy drive of Naucelle.

Discover glorious Belcastel

The region has so many fascinating and beautiful places to discover that you'll never exhaust all the possibilities! The Aveyron is home to many of France's "most beautiful villages", so trips to any of these are well worth while. Belcastel, just over 20 km from Naucelle, is especially glorious. It's probably best visited out of peak season, with Autumn offering not only a welcome break from the crowds of tourists to the village, but also the most stunning pallet of rich colours to set off this perfect place to its best advantage.

Visit the Millau Viaduct and enjoy the nearby cities of Rodez, Albi and Toulouse

Then there's the Millau Viaduct, a must see in anybody's book. The main cities of Rodez, Albi and Toulouse are also within reach and will offer many hours of entertainment, culture and heritage - not to mention shopping and dining!

How to get there

Nearby airports are found at Rodez and Toulouse, and have plenty of flights to and from the UK. Naucelle even has a railway station, so if you like to travel by rail you can link to local services from main stations and arrive at your destination in popular French style. The N88 motorway is close to the town, which is found from the D997/D58.

Property prices and availability in and around Naucelle

Property in and near to Naucelle comes in at mid range - not the cheapest in France, but offering real value for money. Character properties are popular here, and there's often something rather special on the market, though it may not stay available for long!
