These mediaeval "new towns" were built to a careful orthogonal layout: a grid pattern of straight streets around a central square. The word "new town", however, doesn't really seem to fit Rieupeyroux, at least, not in the modern sense of the name. This lovely old town oozes mediaeval ambience from every stone. Its picturesque setting, in seemingly untouched countryside, makes it an idyllic holiday location for lovers of outdoor activities and nature.
Rieupeyroux has a population of just over 2,000 permanent residents. It's a small but bustling town, well equipped with shops, services and amenities. In town you can find all the usual French suspects, that is, boulangeries, a chocolaterie, banks, hairdressers, a supermarket and many more. Should you be considering a move to Rieupeyroux for a whole new life in France, it's good to know the town also offers medical services and schools.
Sundays see a seasonal market take place in the town, so grab your basket and head off to grab the freshest and best of the local produce for which this region is famed.

Rodez airport is some 45 kilometres away from Rieupeyroux, so getting to the area by air is simple. Toulouse airport is further away but has more choice of flights. Train travellers can alight at Baraqueville, while the nearest TGV station is at Montauban. You will, however, need a car to make the most of a stay in Rieupeyroux. The town lies on the D905, with the N88 being the nearest major road.
With property prices starting at a minimal 29,000 Euros, this area really does offer some great opportunities.
