Saint Quentin - a vibrant northern city

The city of Saint Quentin is located in the north of France, in the region of Picardy. Saint Quentin is a vibrant and forward looking city, which offers superb facilities for a great lifestyle in a delightful part of France. And all just a hop and a skip away from the UK! Saint Quentin is also not far from Belgium, thus giving you even more options for weekends, work or leisure.

Art and Art Deco!

Saint Quentin has an eclectic mix of artistic and architectural styles and this makes it a very interesting place for those who have an artistic eye. The city is proud of its creative flair, and in 2001 it won a prestigious award from the National Academy of Street Arts. Architecturally, the city offers Gothic styling (its cathedral and stunning town hall) and Art Deco (in various places in the city where this style was used to rebuild areas which had been destroyed). Saint Quentin has plenty of art galleries and museums, and also two fabulous venues for the performing arts. These stage performances range from opera and classical concerts to theatre, comedy, modern dance and ballet.

Shop in style

You can certainly shop in style in Saint Quentin, as the city has over 1,500 shops as well as markets almost every day of the week! As you would expect of such a lively city, there is also a highly developed social scene, with a myriad of bars, cafés, restaurants and clubs all vying for your custom.

Green spaces in the city

Unusually for a big city, Saint Quentin is full of lovely fresh green spaces and peaceful areas where you can relax and enjoy the beauties of the natural world. In the very centre of the city is the 103-acre (47-hectare) park known as the Marais d'Isle Nature Reserve. Here, the natural wetlands encourage all manner of interesting wildlife and plants, and it is open all year for your enjoyment. There is also the Champs Elysées area, which has beautiful parks and flower gardens, walks and leisure facilities for tennis, bowling and suchlike.

Saint Quentin's marina

The city of Saint Quentin could almost be described as the city with everything. As well as its lively city buzz and modern facilities, its green peaceful heart and superb cultural life, its thriving business and professional community and its tourism, Saint Quentin is blessed with an attractive marina. This links to the canal and where sailing and other nautical activities take place.

Exploring the area around Saint Quentin

The situation of Saint Quentin means that you are well placed to explore not just much of northern France, but also Belgium and perhaps even Luxembourg! You don't, however, have to travel this far for an unusual and interesting experience. Under the city itself are a network of caves which can be fascinating... if you are not claustrophobic!

How to get there

Property prices and availability in and around Saint Quentin

Recent government investment has brought new interest in the property market in the region around Saint Quentin, but there is still a good deal of affordable property to be found here.
