For buying and selling property in Bresdon
Sleeping under the bright sunshine for which the department of the Charente-Maritime is known, Bresdon is a pretty little village that provides a welcome haven from a hectic everyday life in the UK. Quaint old stone buildings characterise the hamlet, as do its surroundings of sunflowers and vineyards. Nearby are the resorts and gorgeous sandy beaches of the Atlantic coast, while inland there are other delights to discover such as old market towns, heritage buildings and a feast of festivals and village fetes.
The main sight is the lovely little Romanesque church, but most of the houses are old and worth enjoying for their Charantaise charm. Bresdon doesn't have much in the way of shops or restaurants, but just a hop and a skip away is the lovely market town of Matha, where not only can you find fresh produce on the market stalls every Friday morning, but you can also pick up your weekly shopping from the supermarket and enjoy a leisurely lunch in your choice of the restaurants.
They say that in the Charente-Maritime you can never be bored, and with the wealth of places to go and things to do on offer around Bresdon it seems likely to be proven true. The seaside always makes a great day out, even more so in this area where the beaches are long, clean and sandy, the water sports are plentiful and the resorts lively and welcoming. What's more, it has one of the best sunshine records in the country!
Inland, enjoy walking, pony trekking, cycling, fishing, swimming, tennis, golf and more not far from the village, or take the time to visit the Cognac vineyards and taste the finest brandy in France! The town of Cognac itself is worth a visit, as is the interesting fortress town of Rochefort. If you want to do something different, why not take a trip to the delightful Ile de Ré, or spend time in the bustling town of La Rochelle?
You can fly to La Rochelle or Poitiers (La Rochelle is served by Ryanair, Flybe, Jet2 and easyJet and Poitiers airport by Ryanair), or go by train, but if you are driving, which is the only way to appreciate all that there is to see around the village, you can find it on the D739 or D222. The A10 is the nearest auto route, the N10 being the nearest major road.
The seaside areas of the Charente-Maritime can be expensive, but the inland villages such as Bresdon often offer really good value for money. With the current market offering a character village house for 92,650 Euros, most buyers have a chance to find a place in this pretty village.
