Cozes - a town amidst the sunflowers

The historic little town of Cozes is found in the west of France, in the department known as the Charente-Maritime. It lies in a pretty setting on the Gironde estuary, in a landscape characterised by golden fields of wheat and sunflowers, and in a region known for its high sunshine record and gentle climate. Cozes is an attractive and traditional market town with pretty stone village houses dating back to the 14th century, and a lovely 12th century village church.

However much you love tradition, peace, and quiet, its good to know that you can access all the things you need for a comfortable modern lifestyle too! Cozes is well equipped to please on all scores here, as the town combines the traditional feel and charm of its old streets, houses and market with an abundance of modern services such as a supermarket, a dry cleaning service, fishmongers, boulangeries and a tourist office to help you find your way around. There are even a couple of bars too, where the local tipples of cognac and pineau are always available!
