For buying and selling property in Gémozac
The town of Gémozac is found in western France, in the Charente-Maritime department close to France's Atlantic coast. It is a typically attractive market town which offers a good range of goods and services despite lying in a rural position. Well placed for access to the coast, Gémozac could be an excellent base for anyone seeking a home in this lovely area of France.
Although usually tranquil, Gémozac livens up on Friday mornings for its open air general market. There is also a bigger market held every third Friday in the month. Stall holders set out their wares and the townsfolk turn up early to make sure they get the very freshest and best of the goods on offer. Local produce is here in abundance, and look out too for locally made cheeses, oysters and other fresh fish, and Cognac.
For anything you can't get at the market, or for the other days of the week when you have to do those more mundane shopping tasks, you will find Gémozac ready to serve you with two good supermarkets and range of small shops. The town is also well equipped with restaurants, and eating out here is a pleasure as the region is very proud of its delicious gastronomy. Although Gémozac isn't on the coast, it is near enough for the seafood to be a local speciality... don't forget to try the oysters!
Gémozac lies in a typically Charente-Maritime landscape of sunflowers and vineyards. If this isn't enough, the town is also only around a twenty-minute drive to the sea. Here the lively resort of Royan, with its lovely beaches and fantastic sporting opportunities, is waiting to greet you. Try windsurfing, sailing, kite flying and many other activities. Golfers are extremely well catered for here, as there are some 18 courses within reach of the town!
If you'd like to explore more of the area around Gémozac, take your car and head south to the Gironde estuary, to the vineyards and great wine houses of Bordeaux.
