For buying and selling property in Jonzac
For a relatively small town, Jonzac has a lot to recommend it. Its situation alone, close to the wild and beautiful Atlantic coast, would be enough to make it interesting! There is, however, more to Jonzac than a fortunate geographical location. The town has a lovely mediaeval sector, giving it a charm born of a fascinating history, a spa health centre, a thermal swimming centre and altogether great facilities.
Jonzac is an historic town, and has a very attractive old quarter where you can stroll through the mediaeval streets and imagine life many centuries ago. Enjoy the mediaeval style houses and the intriguing craft and curio shops that are found in this quarter. Jonzac's chateau is another building well worth seeing, and if you are a lover of Renaissance architecture you can also find an enormous amount of beautiful renaissance churches in the surrounding area.
Jonzac may be an historic town, but it has a thriving and lively modern lifestyle too. There is a great selection of shops, bars and restaurants amongst all the other amenities that you would expect to find in a much larger town. There is also an indoor market, so you needn't miss out on the opportunity to purchase local produce fresh from the farms!
On top of the usual spa town facilities of health treatments and a casino, Jonzac offers a state of the art swimming centre which utilises the naturally heated thermal waters for which the town is renowned. This creates a warm almost tropical environment, and it is hardly surprising that the centre is extremely popular.
Don't forget, the beaches are less than an hour away too, and these offer the opportunity to try all kinds of sports such as windsurfing, surf boarding, swimming, sailing, kite surfing and many more. Also in the locality you can find golf courses, go-kart tracks, tennis, fishing, cycle hire, horse-riding and, of course, boules!
Bordeaux is the nearest airport to Jonzac. It is easy to find a flight to suit as it is served by several airlines including flagship airline British Airways, and low cost providers easyJet, flybe and bmibaby. Bordeaux also offers rail travellers an easy ride as it has a TGV station, meaning it is possible to travel all the way from the UK on fast, comfortable trains.
Property prices in the Charente-Maritime have more than doubled in price in the last ten years, so if you are looking to buy a property here don't wait too long or they will almost certainly have risen again! This does mean, however, that this area is something of a property hotspot, and as the popularity of the Atlantic coast is unlikely to dwindle, Jonzac should still prove a good location for an investment. Properties close to the coast are always more expensive than those further inland, so if prices in Jonzac are a little rich for your pocket, try looking to the lovely countryside to the east of the town where there may be more bargains to be found.
