Adriers - a peaceful Vienne village

If your idea of holiday heaven is a peaceful escape to the heart of the French countryside, the village of Adriers may be just what you need. This attractive little village has just over 700 residents, yet offers good basic amenities in addition to a tranquil and traditional atmosphere. What's more, it's surrounded by a bucolic countryside and gets more than its fair share of sunshine throughout the year. Adriers is also conveniently close to many places of interest, with the celebrated attractions of the region within easy reach.

Life in the village

Adriers may be rural, but it's got small shops where you can get day to day groceries and most of life's little necessities. There's a general grocer's, a baker's, a pharmacy and a doctor's surgery. There's even a small bar/restaurant in the village. Larger shops and supermarkets are available in the nearby larger town of L'Isle Jourdain, which also offers a Saturday morning street market. Should you be considering a permanent move to Adriers and have young children, the friendly little village school caters for nursery and primary age children.

Heritage of Adriers to explore

Adriers may be small, but it's no slouch when it comes to a little history and heritage. Amongst the most interesting buildings you'll find the lovely Church of Saint Hilaire, the Château Branlant and an ancient presbytery. The natural heritage is every bit as good too. The Étang Monterban is classified as a zone of interest and has a fascinating range of flora and fauna. Meanwhile the village is set in beautiful countryside, perfect for gentle summer walks and other outdoor pursuits.

Enjoy Adriers's leisure lake

One particularly pleasant addition to the village is its Plan d'Eau, or Leisure Lake. This offers various activities, and these include fishing, swimming (in July and August there are lifeguards to ensure safety) and a play area for young children.

Outdoor activities available nearby
